Florence discovery + Academy + Uffizi tour (Full day)

Sitting on a spectacular  valley, crossed by the Arno river, dominated by the Brunelleschi’s cupola, here is the Italian capital of art and Renaissance, the city of Dante, Michelangelo, Leonardo, Donatello, the city of the Medici family, the city of gold and leather, literally an incredible museum in the open air.

We offer you a private customized visit of the most spectacular monuments and sights of Florence with our English speaking licenced guide, including the Duomo of St. Mary of the Flower, the Baptistery, via dei Calzaiuoli,  Republic’s square, Piazza della Signoria, the Old Bridge, Palazzo Pitti and the square and church of Santa Croce.

Enjoy the breathtaking beauty of the Florentine hills from the heights of Piazzale Michelangelo and Fiesole while sitting comfortably and air conditioned car/mini-van. Take in the lovely, enchanting landscapes that surround the city.
Our journey starts from your hotel and first passes by the extraordinary Santa Maria Novella church on its way to the Arno River and the splendid view of the Ponte Vecchio. We then move up along the Viale dei Colli, one of the most beautiful roads in Florence, to Piazzale Michelangelo, which overlooks the city and its incredible monuments, its particular red roofs and lofty garden terraces. Our next stop is Fiesole, on the other side of the city. This enchanting Etruscan gem towers just north of the city surrounded by ancient villas and marvelous gardens. On our way back to the city centre, our tour will pass in front of Santa Croce church, Palazzo Medici Riccardi and finally Piazza San Marco.
The tour continues with a visit to the Academy: why is the David the most recognizable symbol of Florence and what did he represent in his time? How did the genius of Michelangelo meet the challenge of extracting the pathos of a being and  fixing it forever in time in the Pietà, or the famous Prisoners who still seem to struggle free from their marble blocks? Have a close encounter with these timeless works of art and get the inside story of the life and times of this consummate artist.  The Academy also houses an important collection of paintings from the 14th to the 16th century, plaster casts of famous statues dating back to the 19th century, and impressive holdings of Russian icons.
