Milan Discovery + Cenacolo Vinciano + Pinacoteca Brera

We offer you a private customized visit of the most spectacular monuments and sights of Milan including the Sforza Castle, the Piazza della Scala, the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele 2nd and the inside of the Duomo.

Our guide will pick you up at the hotel and you will reach the Castello Sforzesco which used to be the seat and residence of the Duchy of Milan and one of the biggest citadels in Europe and which  now houses several of the city’s museums and art collections.

We will continue our walk through the elegant Via Dante and reach the Teatro della Scala, the Opera House of Milan and certainly the most important one of the whole country. Built in 1778, today  the theatre is still recognised as one of the leading opera and ballet theatres in the world and is home to the La Scala Theatre Chorus, La Scala Theatre Ballet and La Scala Theatre Orchestra. We will visit the very interesting museum of the theatre in which is displayed a collection of paintings, drafts, statues, costumes, and other documents regarding La Scala’s and opera history in general.

Our next stop will be the so called “Salotto di Milano” (drawing room of Milan), the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele the 2nd , dedicated to the first king of Italy,a structure  formed by two glass-vaulted arcades intersecting in an octagon covering the street connecting Piazza del Duomo to Piazza della Scala. The Galleria is famous for being home to some of the oldest shops and restaurants in Milan and  is the site for many luxury goods’ shops, including Prada, Massimo Dutti, Gucci and Louis Vuitton.

Our last stop will be at the Duomo di Milano, dedicated to Santa Maria Nascente (Saint Mary Nascent), it represents one of the best examples of gothic churches in Italy and it is the 4th largest cathedral in the world. Started in 1386, the church is full of pinnacles and has more that 3200 statues which people can admire if they reach rooftop. We are going to visit the inside of the church and see the 5 wide naves, the crypt and the baptistry excavations.

It’s lunch time, you can now sit down, relax and enjoy a typical Milanese meal. Our guide will recommend you a great restaurant.

Our afternoon tour continues with the visit of the Church of Santa Maria delle Grazie ,a 15th century church built in the gothic Lombard style. In the refectory of the convent we are going to admire the beauty of Leonardo da Vinci’s  Last Supper (in Italian, “Il Cenacolo” or “l’Ultima Cena”) which is considered  one of the most important Italian works of the Renaissance if not of all time.

The Pinacotec a Brera will be our last visit, the museum contains one of the foremost collections of Italian paintings, an outgrowth of the cultural program of the Brera Academy, which shares the site in the Palazzo Brera. We are going to see paintings by Piero della Francesca, Caravaggio, Mantegna, Raphael, Tintoretto and many other Renaissance artists.
