Perugia half Day tour

We offer you a private customized walking tour of the main sights of Perugia with our licensed local guide, starting from your hotel, who will guide you through the discovery of this  incredible medieval city, reaching the main and most significant streets and squares.

Perugia is an Umbria city filled with beautiful art, fascinating historic sites and delicious local delicacies like black and white truffles, artisan chocolate, salt-cured meats, and wild game.  Steep alleyways lead to the city’s oldest walls within the original Etruscan center.

Called by Henry James, “city of the infinite view”, Perugia’s Etruscan glory lives on in the Etruscan city gate of the 3rd century B.C. – hidden away in the massive Papal fortress of the 16th century.

Your Perugia Walking Tour begins at your hotel with your professional English  speaking guide who will take to the centre for a stroll through the old town in search of ‘springs and fountains’, ‘beautiful views’, ‘Etruscan walls and doors’, ‘parks and gardens’ through trails that wind between the five historic districfets of the city: Porta Sole, Porta Sant’Angelo, Porta Santa Susanna, Eburnea Gate and Porta San Pietro. The city, founded by the Etruscans, is rich in history and monuments.

Your private guide is an expert in art history and can fill you in on the details of this central piazza which local people still use as a busy meeting point.  The square also hosts the beautiful medieval Fontana Maggiore, the marvelous medieval fountain created in the 12th century by Nicola and Giovanni Pisano and designed by Fra Bevignate.  The fountain faces the wonderful Palazzo dei Priori, once the residence of the city’s chief political authorities, and your next stop on the private half-day Perugia walking tour.

You will also have time to explore the Galleria Nazionale dell’Umbria, the Collegio del Cambio with its fine Perugino frescoes, or the Sala del Collegio della Mercanzia with its historic wooden panels.  Your last stop on this wonderful walking tour is the Cathedral of San Lorenzo, an important symbol of Gothic architecture.
